The Hunt Museum has a wide range of events, which are available all year around. Workshops are designed to be interactive, engaging and fun, and we hope students and teachers alike will come away from the experience with a greater appreciation for and love of museums.
Planning visit
If you would like to visit the museum before you come with your class, we can offer free admission for a planning visit to 1 teacher per 15 students booked in. Please reserve your free planning visit admission through the Education Office when you make your group booking.
Tours and workshops
All guided tours and workshops must be booked in advance. All our education programmes are offered by volunteers, so we request at least two weeks’ notice of the confirmed date, time, group size and requested workshops in order to make arrangements. Brief descriptions of activities we offer for this age group are in this brochure. Downloadable workshop descriptions are available on the website to help you prepare for your visit (from 1 Sep 2012).
Self-guided visits
If you are planning a self-guided visit, we ask that you contact us at least two weeks in advance with the time, date and size of your proposed group. The museum is not very large, and if the museum is already extremely busy at your chosen time, we may recommend you reschedule. We strongly advise against bringing groups of more than thirty students for a self-guided visit.
Refreshments
If your group would like to bring a packed lunch or snack, we can usually accommodate this at no cost, either indoors in the education area or (in fine weather) outdoors in a gated grassy area. Please note that we cannot provide much outdoor seating so if you prefer the outdoor picnic option, students can bring their own blankets. Please let us know when booking if you wish to take up this option. If you would like us to provide refreshments, these can be arranged with the restaurant manager; please let us know at least a week in advance. There is a charge for refreshments provided by the museum.

Upon arrival
Groups should gather in the gated courtyard in front of the entrance to the Museum. Teachers must register at Reception upon arrival. For a guided tour or workshop visit, your guide or workshop leader will meet your group in the lobby of the Museum. If your group arrives early, please be patient as your guide may not be available until the time specified in your booking.
Late arrivals
Please be prompt. If your group is late, your visit may have to be shortened to accommodate our other bookings.
Museum shop
The Museum Shop offers merchandise such as books, postcards, art supplies, and toys. You may visit the shop after your guide has completed the programme and after you have retrieved your class’s belongings. It is possible to pre-order souvenirs;
Call the Museum Shop at (061) 312833 for more information.
Photography
Photography is not usually allowed in any part of the Museum. Images of all of the objects in the Hunt collection are available on our website, and postcards of many popular objects are on sale in the gift shop. Should you have a special reason to take photographs during your visit, please contact the Curator of Education and Outreach to discuss possible options.
Cancellation policy
For groups of fewer than 50, there is no charge for cancellations up to 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will typically be invoiced at the full rate. If fewer students attend than were booked in, we may have to invoice you for the missing students. For large groups, different conditions may apply; you will be advised of these at the time of booking.
