‘Dietrich Blodau’s Artistic Development’ with Peter Blodau
Peter will use the work on display to explore Dietrich’s development as an artist, from his days as a Graphic Design student in Dortmund, Germany, to his watercolours of the west of Ireland. This talk will also examine the development of Dietrich’s artistic technique and offer insight into his personal life as relevant to his work.

‘Printmaking in Limerick: One Man’s Influence and Legacy’ by Des MacMahon
Des MacMahon, former Blodau student, Print Lecturer at LSAD and active member of Limerick Printmakers, will speak about how Dietrich Blodau introduced printmaking to the city of Limerick inspiring generations, and enabling it to become an internationally renowned centre for printmaking.

‘Linking Classical Art to Modernism’ by artist Samuel Walsh
The presentation, previously given at the National Gallery of Ireland, links the subject matter of portrait, still life and landscape from the early Egyptian period to the present day. It is not comprehensive art history but based on examples representing through time the singular subject matter or combinations of two or all of them. This is an illustrated presentation.
