Expert guest speakers on the day are:
Dr Roisin Kennedy – Former curator at the National Gallery of Ireland and lecturer in the school of Art History and Cultural Policy at UCD.
Lecture Title: Painting Modernity: Jack B. Yeats, Paul Henry and Modern Ireland’
Peter Murray – Former Director of Crawford Gallery of Art, Cork. He has curated many exhibitions over the past three decades, and is currently working on an exhibition celebrating the work of George Victor Du Noyer for Crawford Art Gallery.
Lecture title: “A Romance in Perpetuity”
Dr Brian Kennedy – Former Keeper of Art at the Ulster Museum. He has published a biography of Paul Henry and arranged an exhibition looking at Henry’s whole career, for the National Gallery, Dublin, 2003
Lecture title: ‘As He Saw It: the Ireland of Paul Henry, R.H.A.’
Yuki Takahashi – An adjunct tutor of Aoyama Gakuin University, Meiji University, and Komazawa University in Tokyo. She completed her Ph.D dissertation titled W.B. Yeats in the Irish Arts and Crafts Movement at Aoyama Gakuin University, and received a doctorate in literature in March 2017.
Lecture title: ‘Jack B. Yeats: Art and the ‘Living Ginger of Life’
Panel Discussion Chaired Gemma Tipton is a renowned Dublin based independent writer and critic of contemporary art and architecture. She is widely known through her contributions to art and architectural publications, panel discussions, lectures, radio and television programme both in Ireland and internationally.
