Friends visit to Áras an Uachtaráin
Early on the morning of 29 October some fifty Friends of The Hunt Museum set off on this trip. Two excellent guides gave them a tour of Castletown House, Ireland’s largest and earliest Palladian style house. Afterwards, they enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the West-Wing Restaurant.

In the afternoon, they were invited to meet the President, following her visit to the museum in January. On behalf of the Friends, Daphne Henderson
presented President McAleese with a book about Limerick silver, and thanked her for her "wonderful" words of support when she visited the museum. Friends were then given a tour of the house. The aide-de-camp John was impressive in his history of the Áras and all its past Presidents. Along with displaying a great sense of humour, he was a great tour guide to have on the day, said Anne Kerin.
