The Hunt Museum Liberal Arts course is a twice-yearly series of lectures which look a wide range of topics such as the decorative arts, archaeology, heritage and culture. The course is renowned for the high quality of it’s lectures, and we strive to invite a mix of well-known speakers as well as up-and-coming scholars, from a range of different disciplines.
This winter’s course will look at the decorative arts both in Ireland and Europe from 1700 up to the present day. Among the topics that will be addressed will be Irish furniture, antique rugs, 18th century interiors and their conservation, Irish glass and ceramics, as well as a look at contemporary decorative arts. The speakers will include art historians, conservators, museum workers and antique dealers.

- Participants also have the option of learning about The Hunt Collection, attending lunchtime lectures and availing of the expertise of museum staff and docents (trained volunteer researchers).
- Participants will have free access to The Hunt Museum and The Hunt Museum Library (by appointment) for the duration of the course.
Entry requirements
- No formal entry requirements.
- Participants should have an interest in the arts.
Certificate
Participants who attend a minimum of 7 lectures will
be awarded The Hunt Museum Liberal Arts Certificate.
Course arrangements
The Winter 2008 course will take place over 9 weeks, each Wednesday night from 15th October until 10th December. Each lecture begins at 7pm and finishes at 9pm, with a 20 min. coffee/ discussion break.
Fee
The cost of the course is €250.
Special concession rate for students €175 (with ID).
