Carving, Isis suckling Horus

Item Code HCM 102

A bone figure of a woman suckling a child. She is seated on a high backed chair and is dressed in a finely pleated gown and a mantle. The left breast is bare and she offers it to the child. The hairstyle is elaborate with braids running back from the forehead and arranged in ringlets on either side of the face. The child is naked, sits on the lap of the woman and is touching her right hand with his left. These figures probably represent the Goddess Isis and her son Horus. ?Alexandria.
