Deirdre is a self-taught artist. She is a native of Co. Kildare and currently living in Limerick City.
Deirdre’s work is inspired mainly by the landscape and the human form. The two subjects are complex, compelling, fragile, fierce and powerful. Her work is often abstract which disguises the code for the narrative in the work. All Deirdre’s artwork is underpinned with love and her deep passion for art.
Her work invites the viewer to find their own meaning, to celebrate life and to meditate on the mystery of the world. She has particular interest in embossment and the laser cutting processes.
Deirdre spent two years working in Japan (1990-1992) and the time spent there now increasingly informs her print work.
