Mid-term Ilen Workshops

Monday 29th October 2018 - Friday 2nd November 2018

The Ilen exhibition workshops for children will allow them to explore and experience the story and rebuilding of the sailing ship Ilen. Originally the boat was designed in 1925 by Limerick man Conor O’Brien, a world-famous sailor who in 1926 took her on a long voyage to the Falkland Islands, where she remained as a trading ship until she was returned to Ireland in 1977. They will be talking about topics such as: Ocean Science, Ship-building Physics, and the part of a working Ketch. They’ll also be experiencing: basic knot tying, story-telling through a photo exhibition, team work, and signal flags.
