Mayan or Aztec Ceramic Figurine Fragment
Description
This ceramic head, possibly from a figurine, is depicted with a pointed headdress and earrings. Similar examples have been attributed to either the Mayan or Aztec cultures, and figures such as these were possibly used as effigies. It is possible that this piece originates from the Isla de Sacrificios, México, a small island in the Gulf of México near the coast of Veracruz.
