Game-piece

Description

A square game-piece with carved birds forming a frame around the edge. In the centre there is the letter H within a circle. Surrounding the circle there is a chinoiserie scene. There is also a chinoiserie landscape on the reverse showing figures, buildings and trees. One corner of this piece is broken off. This is one of a set of 13.

File of material relating to thirteen casino chips. Includes photocopy of information card with photocopy of image of objects (date unspecified). Noted that the initial 'H' is marked on the objects; photocopy of extracts from paper by Derek Cowan entitled 'Mother of Pearl Game Counters' (date unspecified); letter (29 June 2001) from Sally Gipple, Professional Interiors fine contract furnishings and design, P.O. Box 579 Dana Point, California 92629-0579, to [a docent] or the Director, Hunt Museum. Identified the present objects as Chinese gaming counters and encloses photocopies of certification of one she has as well and photocopy of image.
