Description

A cylindrical pyx in silver with a flat lid. The lid is decorated with an incised leaf decoration and the IHS with a cross over the head and a heart underneath. There is an inscription around the sides which reads: EDMUNDUS THADAEUS sacerdos, me fieri fecit 1636 [Edmund McTigue priest had me made in 1636]. A pyx is a vessel in which consecrated bread is kept. Probably Irish.
