Personal seal of Charles I

Description

A seal in gold with emeralds, diamonds and rubies regarded as the personal seal of Charles I of England. The seal is an oval-shaped emerald engraved with the letters C R [Carolus rex] flanking a royal crown, set in a gold frame on which are inscribed the words: Dieu et mon Droit. The seal is set in a semi-oval of rubies and diamonds held by a gold shank. The jewelled mounts with a loop may be a later addition.
