Description

A porcelain cockerel on an ormolu base. The cockerel is white with the mouth open as if crowing. The bronze base is decorated with leaves and flowers.

Includes photocopy of image of object which also records some basic information about it, namely, title, medium, origin and period (date unspecified), postcard (date unspecified) with image of similar crowing cock held by the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; photocopy of extract from catalogue of sale in French issued by Sothebys in Monaco (c. 4-6 December 1983) which describes and contains images of similar objects; photocopy of extract from 'Precious Vessels: 2000 years of Chinese Pottery' (Liverpool: Merseyside County Museum, 1980) by Eldon Worrall and edited by Margaret Warhurst. Contains image and description of similar object; note (date unspecified) which reads, 'according to Mr Kiddell Kien-Lang 1736-1795 or Kang-hi 1662-1722 but definitely 18th century and not later.'
