Engraved Bronze House-Shaped Reliquary Châsse (Box)
Description
This reliquary châsse or box is typical in style for reliquary (container for precious objects). The bronze house-shaped box is decorated with religious images such as angels and saints. The box likely comes from Limoges in France during the 13th century the centre of enamel making in the Middle Ages. It was likely that this had at some point been decorated with coloured enamel.
