Sweetmeat-dish
Description
A dish with silver-gilt mounts. This dish is constructed from several different objects. The bowl is oval in shape with a silver-gilt rim and mounts and it rests on a foot. There are three large decorative mounts, one in the centre and at either side. These show human heads surrounded by scrolled feathers, drapes and stylized flowers and leaves. The foot may be from a 17th century Dutch brandy goblet. The mount decorated with a head, to the right, may be 16th century. Other mounts are 19th or 20th century castings.
