File of material relating to a painting by Jack B. Yeats entitled 'Master of Ceremonies.' Includes photocopy of information card with photocopy of image of object (date unspecified). The word 'Loan' is recorded on the information card; notes (date unspecified) on the life and work of Jack B. Yeats including descriptions of present object and 'An Atlantic Drive' (also in the Hunt Museum, registration number TB 009); two versions of a 'Condition Report' (4 January 1999) noting minor damage to the wooden frame. Transcribed are the texts of three labels affixed to the rear of the painting. Two of the labels, one written in Ireland and the other in English, state that the painting was exhibited at the National Loan Exhibition held in Dublin in 1945; also present is the other label (date unspecified) taken from the rear of the painting. It is the label of the Goodwin Galleries, 64-65 William Street, Limerick. Painting was possibly exhibited here when purchased by John Hunt, Senior; photocopy of letter (8 May 1998) from Hilary Pyle, Yeats Curator, National Gallery of Ireland, to a docent (name withheld), Hunt Museum, enclosing photocopies of extracts from 'Catalogue Raisonné' (Andre Deutsch, 1992) which catalogues oil paintings of Yeats, and 'Watercolours' (Ireland Academic Press, 1993). Descriptions present of 'The Master of Ceremonies' and 'An Atlantic Drive'. It is noted that John Hunt, Senior, purchased present object at exhibition in 1944; loan agreement (20 October 1998-30 November 1998) for temporary loan of this painting to the Gl. Holtegaard - Breda Foundation, Attemosevej, Holte, Denmark. Noted that it is insured for £180,000.
