This ceramic fragment appears to be a monkey. It displays some defining characteristics of Classical Mayan effigies, as in Mayan culture monkeys were shown as performers holding musical instruments and wearing ear pendants, as seen here. These figurines may have been used as tools of comedy or humor during this period.
