File of material relating to a ivory figure of Saint John. Includes photocopy of object description sheet including sketch of object (date unspecified). Attributed to fourteenth-century England; photocopy of photograph of object (date unspecified); photocopy of extract from Sothebys catalogue of sale (c. 10-11 May 1962) which contains description of a figure of Saint John, which according to annotations in the hand of Michael Holland, Registrar, Hunt Museum, may be present object. Contemporary annotation on the catalogue indicates that the Hunts did buy the object described there for £240. In catalogue of sale, figure described there is attributed to late twelfth-century France. This date has been crossed out. Annotation in the hand of Michael Holland, Registrar, Hunt Museum, questions if the object described in the catalogue of sale might be HCM 084 rather than present object.
