File of material relating to a 'patenpfennig,' a baptismal medal. Includes photocopy of information card with photocopy of image of object (date unspecified); Hunt Museum object comment sheet (25 April 1996) containing comments made about object by John Cherry, British Museum. Describes it as figure seated on a gemstone. Questioned if the gemstone is a sapphire; photocopy of extract in German from 'Unbekkannte Arbeiten des & Meisters mit dem Blattfries und Seines Kreises' published in 'Zeit Schrift für Kunst Wissen Schaft' (Berlin, 1956) by Johannes Jantzen; also present are parts 2 and 3 of this article published in the same journal (c. 1960). Parts 1 and 3 contain images of similar patenpfennigs; letter (29 July 1998) from C. O Connor, administrative officer, Personnel, Limerick County Council, to Michael Holland, Registrar, Hunt Museum, thanking him for letter about present object. Writes that this information has been passed onto Hohenlohe and requests to know if there is any linkage; extract from exhibition catalogue for 'Art Treasures in Thomond' held at Limerick Art Gallery (Limerick: Limerick Leader, 1952) which describes the medal as a memorial for the birth of a child and inscribed 'Anna Maria von Stetten ist geboren'; extract from exhibition catalogue in German for Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim (c. 1972). Description and image of present object; transcription of description also present; small piece of paper (date unspecified) which refers to 'The Connoisseur' (volume 95, number 405, May 1935); letter (17 August 2005) from a member of a von Stetten family (name and address withheld), to the Hunt Museum. A visitor to the Hunt Museum gave the writer a postcard with image of present object. Requests more information about it and suggests checking family tree for connection to the von Stetten named on the medal; copy of reply (28 August 2005) from Dorothy Redmond, provenance researcher, Hunt Museum, enclosing relevant publications (not present) and states it is not known when the Hunts acquired it; colour image (2 September 2005) of Kunzelsen-Scloss Stetten on verso of which is message from writer to Redmond. Writer has sent to senior member of family information about the present object; copy of letter (12 September 2005) from Redmond thanking writer for photograph; photocopy of extract from catalogue of sale for collection of the late Henry Oppenheimer (c. 15-17 July 1936). Includes image and description of a German baptismal pendant.
