Comment on information card reads, 'Damaged (head missing + figure of child also missing upon receipt) Fragments in other bags'; Hunt Museum object comment sheet (10 July 1996) containing comments made by Lindsay Allason-Jones about object. She dates the object to medieval times, comments that it is Spanish jet and draws attention to white inclusions. Questions if these inclusions are pyrites; photocopy of extract from exhibition catalogue in French, 'Santiago de Compostella: 1000 ans de Pelerinage Europe (c. 1985) held at Centrum Voor Kunst en Cultur, Abbaye Saint-Pierre, Ghent. Contains image and description of present object, which was exhibited; letter (23 July 1985) from J.E. Ryan, Manager, LEP (Ireland) Limited, international forwarding agents, Collinstown, county Dublin, to Putzel Hunt (Gertrude Hunt), Drumleck, Baily, Howth, county Dublin, in relation to arrangements for transporting the figure to aforementioned exhibition; document, and photocopy of same (3 May 1985), signed by Professor Roger A. Stalley which gives some descriptive details about the figure, mentions that its insurance value is £2,000 and that it is from the Craggaunowen project, county Clare. Again, this is related to the aforementioned exhibition; note (date unspecified) from Roger A. Stalley, University of Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin 2, to John Hunt, Senior, enclosing black and white photograph of the figure (date unspecified); photocopy of extract from a Sothebys catalogue of sale (17 May 1963) which contains description of a similar figure; note (date unspecified) in the hand of Michael Holland, Registrar, Hunt Museum, which states that the object described in the aforementioned Sothebys catalogue of sale is not that held by the Hunt Museum as dimensions given suggest it is smaller than the Hunt figure; photocopy of extract from the 'Oxford Dictionary of Saints' by David Farmer which contains biography of James the Great; two photocopies of extract from 'Pilgrim Souvenirs and Secular Badges: Medieval Finds from Evacuations in London' (London: HMSO, 1998) by Brian Spencer which contains section relating to Saint James of Compostella.
