Description

A pot (puissette or laver) in bronze. It is double-spouted with a globular body and everted rim. The handle springs from two female busts.

Includes photocopy of object description sheet (date unspecified) which includes sketch of object. Mentions Craggaunowen Castle, county Clare, and object was probably displayed there; photocopy of extract from Sothebys catalogue of sale (c. 3 April 1984) which contain descriptions and images of two lavabos; photocopy of extract from publication by Eric Turner entitled 'Brass: Victoria and Albert Museum' (Her Majestys Stationery Office, 1982). Contains description and image of a hanging laver; photocopy of extract from publication entitled 'Five centuries of brass and bronze' issued by the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (c. 1973). Comprises images of lavabos.
