Porcelain vase

Description

A blue and white Chinese porcelain vase with a long narrow neck. The vase is decorated with floral motifs which are divided into sections by blue lines, running vertically from the top of the neck almost to the base.

Provenance

File of material relating to a vase. Includes photocopy of information card with photocopy of image of object (date unspecified); two Hunt Museum object comment sheets containing remarks made about object by Peter Francis (17 April 1996), and Henry Sandon, ceramics expert, BBC Antiques Roadshow (28 November 1997). Francis dates the vase to the late sixteenth century and comment reads, 'Kraak - Ming, porcelain vase of unusually small size.' Sandon remarks that the vase is provincial Ming and dates from circa 1580.
