Axehead

Description

The lower portion of an axehead. It has an asymmetrical blade with the sides rounded and straight and parallel in plane. The edge is sharp but badly chipped. There is a clean break across the centre of the axe. Some post manufacture pecking is visible on the lower portion of both sides, perhaps evidence of hafting. This axehead was found at Lough Gur, Co. Limerick.
