File of material relating to a painting by Roderic O Conor, 'Femme Bretonne.' Includes photocopy of information card with photocopy of image of object (date unspecified). States that painting was on loan to the National Gallery of Ireland for a period of time; printout of e-mail or letter (c. May 2005) from Roy Johnston to Fiona Davern, Registrar, Hunt Museum. He writes that the Hunts O Conor paintings cannot be identified from the Drout catalogue, for a two-day sale which took place on 6-7 February 1956. He comments on two paintings by O Conor owned by the Hunts, the present object and 'Red Firs' as well as Paul Gauguins, 'The Monotype.' In relation to present object, Johnston writes that if the painting has a stamp on the stretcher or on the canvas it was sold at auction on 7 February 1956. Dates the painting to circa 1896-98 and it is linked with O Conors stay in Rochefort-en-Terre, France. Johnston also mentions that in the past he overlooked the fact that the painting was exhibited by Roland, Browse and Delbanco, London, in 1971. This suggests that the painting was acquired from them and lent back for exhibition; two photocopies of extract from exhibition catalogue, 'The Ireland Impressionists: Ireland Artists in France and Belgium, 1850-1914' (The National Gallery of Ireland, 1984) by Julian Campbell. Comprises description and image of the painting; newspaper article, and photocopy of same, published in 'The Ireland Times' (10 October 1984) to coincide with the opening of the aforementioned exhibition. Photograph in the newspaper shows present object in the background; letter (3 January 1985) from Herman Potterton, Director, National Gallery of Ireland, to Gertrude Hunt, Drumleck, Baily, Howth, county Dublin, informing her that the exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland is now over and it will open at the Ulster Museum in February. Thanks her for lending the work to the exhibition; letter (22 February 1985) from Anne Millar, Exhibitions Officer, Ulster Museum, to Gertrude Hunt, thanking her for lending the painting for exhibition and enclosing photocopy of loan and consent form (20 February 1985); receipt (14 August 1985) issued by the Ulster Museum attesting to receipt of the painting. Notes that it is valued at £25,000; letter (25 May 1994) from Potterton to Gertrude Hunt informing her that the National Gallery of Ireland is planning an exhibition to take place in Dublin this autumn, 'Ireland Artists in Antwerp and Brittany, 1850-1910.' It is to be catalogued by Doctor Julian Campbell and he has requested loan from Hunt of four paintings, the present object, 'Harbour Scene, Boats' by Grace Henry, 'Portrait of a Girl with Bonnet' by Walter Osborne and 'Red Firs, Landscape' by Roderic O Conor; photocopies of extracts from publication to coincide with exhibition including article entitled 'Roderic O Conor' by Roy Johnston (Barbican Art Gallery and Ulster Museum,1985); two photocopies of extract from exhibition catalogue, 'Roderic O'Conor - a selection of his best work, 2 June-10 July 1971' (Roland, Browse and Delbanco, London) which includes brief entry referring to the present object; photocopy of image and description of the painting taken from an exhibition catalogue 'Business Records of Roland, Browse and Delbanco, 1944-82, in the Tate Gallery Archive'; photocopy of extract from issue of magazine, 'House and & Garden visits Ireland' (c.
