Archival information

File of material relating to a box with shipping scene. Includes photocopy of information card with photocopy of image of object (date unspecified). Name Hans Krug, Nuremberg, is recorded on the information card, [possible maker]; Hunt Museum object comment sheet (17 April 1996) containing remarks made about the object by Peter Francis. States that box dates from eighteenth-century Germany, possibly Nuremberg; a second Hunt Museum object comment sheet (28 November 1997) contains remarks made about the box by Henry Sandon, ceramics expert, BBC Antiques Roadshow, who in relation to context and provenance notes, 'Meissen, 1725-1730 [metal Nuremberg].' Notes on the form in relation to description read: 'Snuffbox "Bianco Sepra Bianco (in Chinese Style)'; description (c. 11 December 2000) by a student of history of art and design in relation to the box; photocopy of extract from publication entitled 'Techniques of the World's Great Masters of Pottery and Ceramics' (Tiger, 1987) edited by Hugo Morley-Fletcher which describes an object referred to as the Princess Maria Josepha Snuff Box which dates from circa 1752. Image of object also present; photocopy of extract of publication (c. 1981) entitled 'Preziosen der Barockzeit eine Ausstellung zum Barockjahr in Baden-Wurrttemberg' issued by the Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim. Describes a tobacco box. Image also present. This is a Meissen object and dates from the mid-eighteenth century.
