Polished Stone Axe
Description
A Neolithic shale axehead with ovate symmetrical faces, a gently curving edge, a rounded butt and flattened sides. The edge is chipped worn and blunt. Both the blade area and faces are well ground and regular with a moderate to high level of polish. It has an oval cross-section with flattened sides. This axehead was found at Lough Gur, Co. Limerick.
