Axehead

Description

A shale axehead, with asymmetrical faces and a curved asymmetrical edge, the left side is flat and the right side is irregular and rounded. The edge is sharp at the edges but badly chipped in the centre. The faces are ground but irregular with a low trace of polish and there is numerous scratches on both faces. The butt is irregular in shape. The axe has a sub-rectangular cross-section. Found at Ballindard, Herberstown, Co. Limerick.
