A tapestry showing a household scene. This tapestry is depicting December and is one of a set showing each month of the year. These were woven for Prince Henry of England (eldest son of James I). Possibly Flemish.

Archival information

File of material relating to a tapestry. Includes photocopy of Hunt Museum collection survey form (6-7 March 1996). States that the tapestry contains scene which represents the month of January; notes (date unspecified) which describe tapestry which contains scene which represents the month of September. It is unclear if both documents describe the present object. On latter document, annotation in the hand of Michael Holland, Registrar, Hunt Museum, notes that object was formerly in Craggaunowen, county Clare; material relating to a proposal to restore the tapestry (24 August 2005). Comprises letter, estimate and condition report submitted by a conservator, to Virginia Teehan, Director, Hunt Museum. States that object might be Flemish and dates it to late medieval times.
