Description

A long octagonal delftware dish/platter. It is white with deep blue decoration. The centre is decorated with flowers, trees and a Japanese pagoda, the rim with a dark blue trellis design.

File of material relating to object described as a delftware dish. Includes photocopy of object description sheet which includes sketch of object (date unspecified); photocopy of extract from notes (17 April 1996) by Peter Francis which describes the present object. States that it is probably Ireland and might be either provincial or made in Dublin. Annotation in different hand states that object is identical to platter and plates in [two private collections]; Hunt Museum collection survey form (date unspecified).
