We are looking for a self-motivated individual to take up the Coordinator role in a Limerick Public Engagement pilot programme.  Can you engage people across all age ranges in our cultural heritage? Do you have excellent project management, facilitation and administration skills and enjoy working in a busy and creative environment with learners of all ages, including schools?


The Coordinator will have three key areas of programme responsibility in the pilot: 

  1. Design, facilitation and evaluation with primary schools and the wider community;
  2. Management including administration; 
  3. Promotion including the preparation and circulation of publicity materials and networking in the community.  


The first pilot programme works across three major Limerick cultural attractions: Limerick City Gallery of Art, Limerick Museum and The Hunt Museum. It will  deliver an extensive workshop programme engaging primary school pupils with 19th to 21st century art, as well as a number of associated events engaging the wider community.  If successful, the programme will be extended across all school age ranges and to life-long learners and community groups. 


You will be a highly experienced facilitator with a proven track of engaging young people with visual art and museum artefacts. As you’ll be working across three museums and galleries and with multiple schools, your project management, coordination, communication and IT skills will need to be excellent.  You will also be very adaptable and focused on achieving the highest of standards. The contract is temporary for a period of 11 months starting in September 2019, with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and pilot success. It is a pilot partnership between Limerick City and County Council and the Hunt Museum for more effective sharing of resources in the creative education space, in line with the Limerick Cultural Strategy and the Hunt Museum’s Education Strategy.  Although a joint position the official employer is the Hunt Museum.

Pay grade & salary: The salary will be awarded according to experience within a scale ranging from €30,000 p.a. to €35,000 p.a. Holiday is 21 days pro-rated, and excludes public holidays.  


Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.   The ability to work outside office hours (evenings and weekends) is required.
