The origins of Celtic civilizations are based in La Tène area in Switzerland, north of the Alps. Initially a base cultural confederation in central Europe spread across all of Europe and west to Ireland where it survives today.  The 6th century BC.  Rich, aristocratic society that emerged in the upper  Rhineland’s  had a distinctive art based on abstract motifs, spirals lyre and lozenge patterns and curved lines Elements borrowed from older cultures blended together allowed La Tèneart a real style of its own which was the basis of all Celtic art and influenced Irish Celtic art up to Christianity.
