Limerick Museums & Gallery Public Engagement Programme Coordinator
If you believe that culture should be accessible to everyone, please read on….
We are looking for a self-motivated and collaborative individual to take forward the Limerick Museums and Gallery Public Engagement programme coordinator role. In its third year, this exciting cross Limerick programme is proving very successful for schools and three of the key cultural organisations in the city.
Can you engage people across all age ranges in our cultural heritage? Are you excited by the unlimited potential that digital offers for learning, participating and creativity in museums? Do you have excellent project management, facilitation and administration skills and enjoy working in a busy and creative environment with learners of all ages, including schools? If yes, please get in touch.
There are three key areas of programme responsibility :
- Building on the existing Three Muses programme, developing new resources, using digital and non digital means to engage schools and their pupils
- Management of the Joint venture, including administration;
- Promotion of the resources, workshops and results including the preparation and circulation of online publicity materials and networking in the community.
The Limerick Museums & Gallery Public Engagement Programme known as the Three Muses has been in operation since November 2019 across three major Limerick cultural attractions: Limerick City Gallery of Art, Limerick Museum and The Hunt Museum. It has delivered an extensive programme of physical and online workshops engaging primary school pupils with 19th to 21st century art. Throughout 2021, this programme will continue with an emphasis on delivering new digital learning opportunities using gamification and open source platforms. A broadening of the Collections being used means the incorporation of our medieval objects and ceramic artworks from different periods will be harnessed for learning and participation.
You will work across the three museums and galleries and with multiple schools requiring excellent project management, coordination, communication and IT skills. If you have some knowledge of Mozilla Hubs or Gamification in Education that will give you an edge. You need to be very adaptable and focused on achieving the highest of standards.
The contract is temporary for a period of 10 months starting in March 2021, but has the strong possibility of extension, dependent on the next round of funding.
The Limerick Museums & Gallery Public Engagement Programme is a partnership between Limerick City and County Council and the Hunt Museum. It was set up to facilitate greater effectiveness in the sharing of resources in the creative education space, in line with the Limerick Cultural Strategy and the Hunt Museum’s Education Strategy. Although a joint position, the official employer is the Hunt Museum.
