Genetics and Genealogies – some aspects of modern DNA identifications
Tuesday, September 24th, 1-2pm, Captains’ Room
During the Gathering in 2013, interest in identifying one’s DNA profile increased markedly in Ireland and among the Irish diaspora. It is interesting to look at the phenomenon now in 2019 when the tide of curiosity has slackened to some extent and what we have done as a society with this type of information or we plan to do in the future. The paper will talk briefly about some of the issues this kind of profiling has thrown up worldwide and will discuss some case studies from Munster and the Limerick region in particular.
