Lecture with Sinéad McCoole, biographer of Lady Lavery and Curator of exhibitions on the Laverys at the Hugh Lane, Dublin City Gallery -Society and Politics (1997) and Passion & Politics (2010)

When Sir John Lavery decided on the title for his biography he simply called it The Life of a Painter.  His family said that it sounded like he was a house painter – but he refused to change the title.

The illustrated talk will follow his life from an orphan in Belfast to the highest social circles in London and the United States; and will have a special focus on his marriage to  Hazel, Lady Lavery and their involvement in Irish politics.

Free for Friends of the Hunt Museum.
