Have you ever wondered how community participation can breathe new life into cultural heritage institutions?

Meet RECHARGE: Resilient European Cultural Heritage As Resource for Growth and Engagement. This exciting project is all about boosting community involvement to add economic value to cultural heritage institutions across Europe.

Funded by the European Union’s HORIZON Europe programme, RECHARGE is on a mission to help cultural heritage institutions diversify their funding. It is doing this by supporting them in developing a sustainable and replicable participatory business model.

At RECHARGE, we believe that active community participation can transform the cultural heritage sector throughout Europe. By helping institutions diversify their funding and develop innovative participatory business models, we aim to foster growth both in the digital realm and onsite.

One of the core components of RECHARGE is the creation of cultural heritage Living Labs. These labs, developed collaboratively with professionals and the public, are designed to engage communities, networks, and relationships related to cultural heritage. In these Living Labs, we test and devise innovative ways to harness resources, ensuring the development of sustainable future business models. The focus is on creating and integrating value within each institution and the sector at large.

The Hunt Museum was one of the first Living Labs to test a Participatory cultural Business Model under the RECHARGE project. Click here to read more about how we got on!
