Mount (possibly for a sporran)
Description
This purse frame, or purse clasp, is made of wrought iron, and is decorated with lions heads and incised decoration. It was made in Nuremberg in the 16th century. It is stamped with initials HK, presumably a makers mark, and the hallmark of the city. The frame hinges open to reveal an inner frame, which would have created a double pocket purse. There are perforations where the purse would have been attached to the frame, and loops on the back where the purse could be attached to a belt.
