Artist’s Bio
Jackie is a Limerick artist. Poetry is a major inspiration for her paintings, particularly the work of Irish poets. She has painted poems by W.B. Yeats, Seamus Heaney, Austin Clarke along with Leonard Cohen and others. She likes to interpret and create a painting from a poem/lyrics, turning the words into colour and form.
Her paintings are also inspired by the landscapes she immersively walks through. This can be seen in her series of paintings of ‘The Burren’, ‘The Wild Atlantic Way’ and ‘Camino de Santiago de Compostella’. While hiking through these mystical landscapes she captures the essence in photographs and then creates paintings. She also paints local landscapes/landmarks. She mostly uses oils and acrylics on canvas, linen and watercolour paper utilising bright, vibrant colours.
Her artworks are included in the Limerick City and County Council Permanent Collection. She has also taken part in a number of group exhibitions. Jackie is a self taught painter with a Dip. in Interior Design and an M.A. in the History of Art and Architecture.
The Painting on display is inspired by the poem by W.B. Yeats, ‘He wishes for the
Cloths of Heaven’.
