About the event
This creative workshop is inspired by the exhibition Our, Oir, Ore and the remarkable Shannongrove Gorget. Participants will learn about this historic object and its decorative craftsmanship before designing and creating their own embossed gorget.
Through a guided hands-on activity, children will experiment with pattern, texture, and colour while learning a simple embossing technique using card, string, glue, and tin foil. Each participant will produce a unique embossed artwork inspired by historical jewellery. By the end of the workshop, children will have a deeper appreciation of decorative craftsmanship and will take home their own finished piece to treasure.
Aims and objectives
Participants will:
- Learn about the Shannongrove Gorget and its historical and cultural significance.
- Explore pattern, texture, and surface design.
