About this talk

The subject of this talk is porcelain, one of the most fascinating and beautiful of all the ceramic arts. The focus will be on its origins in China over 1,000 years ago and its subsequent introduction into Europe, as well as its later development in Japan. Drawing on examples from the current exhibition ‘Made of Earth’, and from the wider Hunt collection , the talk will also look at the techniques of porcelain production and its beginnings in Germany with the setting up of the Meissen factory.
