Hunt Museum

Our, Óir, Ore explores the enduring power and meaning of precious metals in shaping identity, belief and connection from prehistoric times to the twentieth century. Drawing together remarkable artefacts from the Shannon and Limerick region, including outstanding gold, silver and bronze objects from the Hunt Collection, the exhibition reveals a landscape rich in artistic skill, innovation and international exchange. The exhibition explores the expression of power, prayer, trade and prestige, through iconic artefacts inviting visitors to rediscover Limerick’s place in national and global history. This exhibition will see the top second floor of the Hunt Museum undergo a new visual and object layout design.

OUR: Conversations with the Collection

23 April – 20 September 2026

Temporary Exhibition Gallery, Hunt Museum

Planned to run in tandem with Our, Óir, Ore this summer, OUR: Conversations with the Collection focuses on the ‘Our’ element of the Hunt Collection. The exhibition explores how objects hold

meaning through dialogue between contemporary art and historical artefacts. Using the innovative museographic concept Twin Souls, it creates new relationships between artworks and collection objects. Contemporary Irish artists animate the collection through a series of vignette-style displays that juxtapose past and present. Inspired by Trove (Dorothy Cross and the National Museum of Ireland, 2015), the exhibition invites audiences to consider what emerges when historical and contemporary works share space.

Hunt Contemporary Exhibition

Philip Moss

Temporary Exhibition Gallery, Hunt Museum

Philip Moss will exhibit at the Hunt Museum in the latter half of the year. Moss is an artist unafraid to engage with the political, often exploring themes of personal and societal injustice through his powerful work. At the heart of his practice is the belief that art should be more than decorative, it should provoke thought, challenge perspectives, and invite meaningful reflection from the viewer.
