Bust of a child

Description

A bust of a child in faience (tin-glazed earthenware), the head is turned to one side and the child has chubby cheeks and short curly hair. The shoulder is damaged on the left. North Italian or German.

File of material relating to an earthenware bust of child. Includes two photocopies of extracts from a Sothebys catalogue of sale (c. 22 April 1982). One extract comprises description of a pair of North Italian white glazed earthenware busts of children said to be similar to present object. Images of these objects are present. The other extract includes image and description of a paten which it is said, might be similar to MG 127; Hunt Museum collection survey form (date unspecified).
