Axehead

Description

An axehead with asymmetrical faces, curved asymmetrical edge and a rounded, pointed butt which is now damaged. The sides are flattened but faceted towards the blade. The axehead is ground and polished on the blades, sides and faces, with the blade having a higher level of polish. There is a large remnant flack scar on the right of one of the faces. The cross-section is oval with flatten sides. Found at Lower Grange, Co. Limerick.
