Catriona O’Connor studied at NCAD, Dublin and the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and the Scuola del Libro in Urbino, Italy. Working in the studio of Maestro Renato Bruscaglia, printing from large plates onto rich Fabriano, led to a measured approach in her work up to and including stage sets for theatre and musical societies.
O’Connor has exhibited in EVA, Oireachtas and Iontas as well as arts festivals such as Beara and Smaointe na Sceilge and contemporary galleries such as the Lavit Gallery Cork, the Doswell Gallery, and the inaugural exhibition at the Source Arts Centre, Thurles curated by Ruairi O Cuiv. Work has also been shown in London, Padova and Milan, and Tahlinn, Estonia. O’Connor last showed at the Hunt Museum in 2005 in a joint exhibition with Maurice Quillinan and the late Brenda Andrews.
In collaboration with poet Paddy Bushe, artwork by O’Connor has been published on nine Dedalus Press publications including the Irish Times Poetry Book of the Year 2017 ‘On a Turning Wing’ by Paddy Bushe. Her work also featured on the cover of the Stony Thursday Autumn 2013 collection of contemporary poetry (volume 12), edited by Paddy Bushe and published by the Arts Office of Limerick City and County Council.
