About Cikada Circus

Cikada Circus is an acrobatic performance company founded and performed by Ali Stanger & Henrik Gard. Their focus is on weaving acrobatic movement with abstracted everyday narratives, which yoyos between dramatic irony and sincerity. The company’s debut show ‘Cikada’ (2018) has so far toured Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy. The company divides their time between Dublin, Belfast and the rest of the world.

Belonging is a duo performance piece created specifically for indoor spaces, which revolves around the performers using stretch fabric to create moving sculptures, abstract shapes and forms to heighten senses and scenes of belonging in varying forms.

The fabric aids in balancing physical and metaphorical connections between two acrobatic movement artists.

The development of the show was supported by Arts Council Ireland and Nenagh Arts Centre. Commissioned by the Belonging exhibition, Limerick.

Cikada Circus Workshops

Explore creating short performances with acrobatics and physical theatre with Ali and Henrik of Cikada Circus. The workshop will consist of basic acrobatic movements and creating short performances inspired by the artworks in the galleries. No previous experience necessary. Suitable for ages 7 – 11 years.

Please note: Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the performance and/or workshop.
