Did you know that flax was amongst the earliest crops to be cultivated in Ireland from the Neolithic period or that counties including Limerick, Cork and Galway prospered greatly from the flax industry in the mid-1800s.
Attend this Hunt Museum ‘Living Archaeology in the Garden’ (LAG) event in conjunction with the Headford Lace project to
- help us to save seeds from the museum’s flax crop
- see demonstrations on some of the steps used to process flax into linen
- hear a brief history of the Headford Lace project and its objectives
- explore Sybil Connolly designs incorporating Irish linen
