About the Exhibition

Our, Óir, Ore: Four Millennia of Limerick Silver and Gold brings the visitor on a journey through Limerick’s 4,000-year history of silver and gold craftsmanship. From the elegance of Georgian silver to the ceremonial treasures of the Bronze Age, this exhibition showcases precious objects from the Hunt Collection, Limerick Museum, the Limerick Diocese, and the National Museum of Ireland. This exhibition is a must-see for Limerick audiences, as well as anyone with an interest in precious metals, ancient craftsmanship, and Bronze Age artefacts.

The newly redesigned top floor of the Hunt Museum has been thoughtfully transformed for this exhibition, offering an immersive space to explore. Discover fascinating subjects including symbols of belief in Early Christian and Medieval art, The Shannongrove Gorget, ancient metalworking techniques, intricate Celtic knotwork and the history of Georgian Silver in Limerick.

Our, Óir, Ore: Four Millennia of Limerick Silver and Gold will also feature redisplayed objects from the Hunt Collection along with exceptional artefacts on loan from Limerick Museum and the National Museum of Ireland.
