Limerick, Ireland – The Hunt Museum, one of Limerick’s most cherished cultural institutions, is inviting tenders for the provision of Café Services at its landmark location, Customs House, Rutland Street. The museum, which welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually, is seeking an experienced hospitality operator to take over its 60-seater café and provide onsite event catering for meetings, conferences, lectures, and more.
Overlooking the River Shannon in the heart of Limerick city, the Hunt Museum is a cultural hub, hosting a wide array of exhibitions and events throughout the year. The café plays a key role in the visitor experience, and the Museum is now searching for a catering partner to elevate this offering with a seasonal menu focused on high-quality, local produce. In addition to fresh meals, the café will offer barista-made coffee, tray bakes, scones, and pastries to complement the museum experience.
The Hunt Museum directors have launched a two-stage, open tender process to ensure transparency and best practices in charity governance. The deadline for expressions of interest is November 8th, 2024, and submissions will be evaluated by a subcommittee of the Museum’s Board. The second stage of the process will see shortlisted applicants invited to further compete, with the successful applicant notified by December 6th, 2024.
The aim is to have the new catering provider in place by January 2025, ensuring a seamless transition from the current operator, who will continue serving their popular dishes in the meantime.
We look forward to securing a talented and passionate catering contractor to partner with the Hunt Museum with the joint goal of providing an exceptional food and beverage offering to our visitors.
Teresa Crowley, Director at the Hunt Museum
The Museum’s Board believes this tender opportunity marks an exciting chapter for the Hunt Café. With the newly opened garden, offering an inviting outdoor space along the River Shannon, the café’s potential to become a vibrant part of Limerick’s food scene—both day and night—is significant. The Museum envisions this partnership as a way to enhance the café’s role in Limerick’s emerging culinary landscape, contributing to the Museum’s ethos of being a centre of civic life in the region.
The Hunt Museum is excited to work with a catering partner who shares its vision and who can help generate new benefits for Limerick and the surrounding region.
