This piece was made as a response to an open call for the exhibition “Small Town Decline: Patterns of Rural Decay” in Glor, Ennis. The Catholic Church has been steadily in decline over the past decades due to scandals, social changes, falling numbers of priests and various other reasons. As a symbol reflecting this state of decline I choose the iconographic image of the Sacred Heart.
